| Location: Your sundial should be in a place that get plenty of Sun of course. If you imagine a dome covering your property, our Sun (in the northern hemisphere) will generally be in the southern half of the dome. |
| Sundial Installation: Each of my sundials is equipped with a 4x4 collar on the bottom. You should be able to attach the collar around the post and level it N-S and E-W. If the sundial's collar doesn't readily slip over the post, sand the post a bit on each side using a belt sander. Once connected, secure the two together with a 4 galvanized or all weather wood screws (one per side to maintain level). |
| Setting the post: Use a standard 4x4 post (Cedar, Redwood, or Pressure Treated Lumber is recommended). Dig the post hole to a minimum depth of 24"-36". Adjust the post to the correct angle (see "setting the clock" below). Backfill using sand, dirt, or concrete (your preference entirely) |
